Great to meet you!

Great to meet you! I’m Dr. Valerie Alvarez, LCSW, and I’m here to offer compassionate, knowledgeable support to individuals ages 9 and up in individual and family therapy. I hold both my Doctorate (Tulane University) and Masters (UT Arlington) in Social Work. My experience spans youth services, behavioral health, and community programs. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, and crisis intervention, using Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, CBT, and DBT to guide you through life’s challenges.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is solution-focused, goal-oriented, and holistic—I believe mental health is best supported by considering the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. I work collaboratively with you to set clear, achievable goals and support you as you move toward greater stability and fulfillment. My approach is both practical and compassionate, empowering you to build on your strengths while addressing the challenges you’re facing.

What you can expect from our first session

In our sessions, you can expect a safe and supportive space where you feel understood and empowered. My goal is to help you gain self-awareness, build effective coping strategies, and leave each session with a greater sense of resilience and clarity. I’m committed to guiding you toward a renewed sense of hope and purpose, equipped with the tools you need to navigate your unique journey.
