Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Wesley Breneman, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and reclaim their sense of balance. My path into mental health care has been shaped by both personal and professional experiences. Having seen the impact of mental illness in my own family, I’ve made it my mission to create a safe, supportive space where patients feel seen, heard, and empowered in their healing journey.

As a provider, I specialize in working with adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life transitions. I’m also passionate about providing inclusive, culturally competent care for the LGBTQIA+ community, ensuring every patient feels respected, validated, and supported—no matter their background or identity.

Before becoming a psychiatric provider, I worked in ICU and hospice care, where I learned the importance of listening with empathy, staying calm in crisis, and understanding the whole person—not just their symptoms. Today, I bring that same holistic and compassionate approach to psychiatry, blending evidence-based treatments with strategies that support both mind and body.

I believe mental health care is most effective when it’s collaborative and personalized. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or navigating a major life transition, my goal is to meet you where you are and partner with you on the path forward. Together, we’ll create a treatment plan that aligns with your goals, values, and lifestyle—whether that involves medication management, mindfulness practices, or small, sustainable lifestyle changes. As part of my integrative care approach, I also explore wellness strategies such as improving sleep hygiene and nutrition.

My approach to therapy

My style as a provider is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I’ll take the time to listen to your concerns, educate you about treatment options, and support you in making informed decisions. I strive to create a judgment-free space where you can feel safe exploring your experiences and challenges.

I view medication as one tool in a larger toolbox. For many, it can be life-changing, but I also emphasize therapy and holistic strategies to promote long-term healing—not just symptom relief.

What you can expect from me

My process is collaborative, patient-centered, and tailored to each person’s unique needs. During our first session, I take the time to really listen to your story—your symptoms, your history, and your goals for care. I want to understand not just what’s going on, but how it’s impacting your life and what matters most to you.

Together, we’ll create a treatment plan that feels supportive and sustainable. For some people, this might include medication as one tool to help stabilize symptoms, paired with lifestyle changes like improving sleep, nutrition, and other holistic modalities. For others, we may focus on stress-reduction techniques, mindfulness, or discussing therapy referrals if that’s a good fit.

I believe in meeting people where they are—whether you’re feeling nervous about starting medication, exploring mental health care for the first time, or continuing a long-term journey. My goal is for each session to feel like a safe, nonjudgmental space where you leave feeling heard, supported, and clear about your next steps.
