Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Yessenia and I am a board certified Texas-based licensed professional counselor (LPC, NCC). I earned an M.A. in clinical mental health counseling as a distinguished graduate of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. My most recent experience has been working with the incarcerated population; however, I have also worked in helping adolescent and adult clients address a range of challenges, from anxiety and depression to PTSD, substance use issues, identity conflict, imposter syndrome, and burn out from high-stress careers such as first responders, essential employees, and military.

My approach to therapy

In my practice, I provide a supportive environment where you can explore your most authentic self without fear of judgment. My approach is realistic and collaborative, and I will hold space for your experiences while gently challenging you towards resolution. I thrive in a solutions oriented approach, however, don’t shy away from discovering the root of patterns and behavior–along with the accountability needed to create change.

What you can expect from me

Our initial session will focus on building a trusting therapeutic alliance, which is the foundation for all meaningful work together. We will identify your needs and develop achievable goals with YOU as the framework. Though it is helpful to know what brings you to therapy, it is not always necessary. It’s as easy as showing up, then we will take it from there.
