Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Yvonne Heim, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I'm licensed in TX, AZ, and CT. I have two Masters degrees; one in Addiction Psychology and the other in Mental Health Counseling. I have 20 years of professional counseling experience and a lot of life experiences. I grew up a military brat and then spent 21 years as a military spouse. I have live in Guam, Okinawa Japan and spent time in several different states. Aside from my professional experience, life experience has also helped to make me a well-rounded counselor.

I know reaching out for therapy can be difficult, which is why right from the beginning focus is on building a healthy and trustful connection with each individual client. I have utilized my counseling skills to assist clients in reducing anxiety and depression symptoms and to gain insight into how trauma, no matter how long ago can continue to impact one's daily life. I help clients learn how they can take control over their mental health rather than their mental health having control over them.

My approach to therapy

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Therapy, Client Centered Therapy and Mindfulness Practices to help clients achieve their therapy goals.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, we will get to know each other and will begin to build a trusting relationship. A detailed assessment will be completed so I can determine how to assist you best with what is bringing you to therapy. You will leave the session having a good understanding how therapy can help you and ways to accomplish your therapy goals.
