Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Alicia Lemar West, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and school counselor dedicated to supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges with compassion, respect, and practical guidance.

I have a strong background in working with children, adolescents, and adults across a variety of settings, including schools and clinical environments. My experience as a school counselor allows me to deeply understand the academic, social, and emotional needs of young people, while my clinical training supports meaningful work with clients of all ages.

I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, and life transitions, including postpartum adjustment and the challenges that come with new parenthood. I also have experience supporting children and teenagers as they navigate emotional regulation, peer relationships, and school-related stress. My approach is grounded in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.

In my work, I draw from evidence-based practices while tailoring each session to meet your individual needs. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to help clients build insight, develop coping skills, and feel more confident in managing their lives.

Whether you are seeking support for yourself or your child, my goal is to meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you move toward growth and healing.

My approach to therapy

I take a warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative approach to therapy. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself—no judgment, no pressure, just support and understanding.

I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I meet you where you are and tailor our work to what you need most. I often draw from approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and strengths-based work to help you better understand your thoughts, manage emotions, and build practical coping skills you can use in everyday life.

If you’re dealing with anxiety or depression, we’ll work together to identify patterns, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and find ways to feel more in control. If you’re navigating a big life change—like becoming a parent or adjusting to a new role—I focus on helping you feel supported, grounded, and more confident in yourself.

When working with kids and teens, I focus on building trust and connection first. I use age-appropriate strategies to help them express themselves, manage emotions, and handle challenges at school or with peers. I also work closely with caregivers when it’s helpful, so everyone feels supported.

At the end of the day, therapy is a partnership. You’re the expert on your life—I’m here to guide, support, and help you build the tools to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is really about getting to know each other and making sure this feels like a good fit for you. I aim to create a relaxed, welcoming space where you can share at your own pace; there’s no pressure to have everything figured out right away.

We’ll start with an intake, where I’ll ask some questions about what’s bringing you to therapy, your background, and what you’re hoping to get out of this process. This helps me understand your story and how I can best support you.

We’ll also talk about your goals, whether you have something specific in mind or just a general sense that you want things to feel different. Together, we’ll begin to outline what you’d like to work toward and what progress might look like for you.

Just as important, the first session is a chance for you to get a feel for my style and approach. You should feel comfortable, heard, and supported, and it’s completely okay to take time deciding if I’m the right fit.

By the end of the session, you can expect to have a clearer sense of next steps and how we might work together moving forward.
