Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Amanda. I am a white, queer, ND, chronically ill/disabled (hey spoonies!) therapist. Many of the folks I work with also identify with one or all of these experiences and are trying their best to just exist in a world that doesn't seem to want them to. I primarily work with adults who are navigating grief, trauma, and chronic illness. I provide a space to slow down, feel accepted, and make sense of how your lived experiences have shaped you. My practice is pro-Palestine, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, anti-colonization, and LGBTQIA+ affirming, which is a reflection of my values in and out of the office. Abolish ICE.

My approach to therapy

My approach is humanistic, relational, anti-oppressive, and strengths-based. I tend to show up as a warm, collaborative presence, and I aim to create a space where you don’t have to filter yourself to be understood. I use personal disclosure as a relational tool. I draw from EMDR, IFS, nature-based, and somatic-informed practices in my work with clients.

What you can expect from me

Many of my clients are carrying grief and trauma on top of the weight of existing in this timeline. You can expect me to take the time to try to understand you in the context of your lived experience. I will ask about all the variables that may be contributing to the struggles in your life and point out the ways you may be assuming personal responsibility for issues that are actually symptoms of larger problems. Individual experiences aside, I believe that at present we are experiencing a shared suffering in no small part due to the oppressive systems (capitalism, colonialism, white supremacy, heteronormativaty, patriarchy, and beyond) we are being forced to exist within. We aren't meant to be seeing what we're seeing in the news every day, and if you're hurting right now, then you're probably paying attention. We aren't meant to do this alone. Community care is the only way through, and I would be honored to be part of yours.
