Candace Walton a licensed professional counselor with experience in providing compassionate and supportive mental health care. Candace received her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University in 2021. She has experience in working with individuals, families, and groups who have experienced complex trauma. Presenting problems that Candace has commonly assisted clients with include abuse and neglect in childhood, sexual abuse, physical abuse, child behavioral concerns in foster homes and at school, exposure to domestic violence, and history of intergenerational trauma. She has additional training in trauma informed interventions and currently holds a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional certification. Since beginning her work as a therapist, Candace has received trainings that have enhanced her professional abilities. Candace has also completed EMDRIA approved Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques, to address the complex needs of children and their families. Her continued goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment where individuals feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

My approach to therapy

My approach is integrative and client-centered, blending evidence-based techniques with deep compassion. I offer a focused style specializing in Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma/PTSD, utilizing cognitive-behavioral (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) principles to provide effective Coping Skills and build resilience. My work also addresses the profound impacts of Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse, where the focus is on restoring a sense of safety and Self-Esteem. Furthermore, I guide clients in improving their Peer Relationships and resolving challenging Relationship Issues, ultimately empowering them to manage stress and cultivate a more fulfilling, purposeful life.
