Great to meet you!

I'm Cathy S. Harris, MSW, LCSW, a trauma therapist with nearly 30 years of experience helping adults heal from the effects of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and life transitions. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Iowa. My work is informed by extensive training in trauma treatment as well as my personal experience with healing trauma. I have particular expertise in complex trauma, religious abuse, high-control groups, dissociation, veterans' issues and helping people move from survival to a more connected and meaningful life. Being a social worker means I pay attention to the big picture, the context of your life.

My approach to therapy

I believe healing happens within a safe, collaborative relationship where clients feel seen, respected and empowered. My approach is trauma-informed, compassionate and practical, drawing from modalities such as EMDR, Brainspotting, DBT, IFS, mindfulness-based approaches and psychedelic integration. I specialize in trauma, religious abuse, high-control group recovery, dissociation, veterans' issues and psychedelic integration. What I enjoy most about this work is witnessing people reconnect with their strengths, reclaim their voice and discover that they are far more than what survival once required of them.

What you can expect from me

I work collaboratively with clients to create a space that feels safe, supportive and genuine. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, explore what brings you to therapy and determine whether we're a good fit. I also like to introduce practical tools and strategies right from the start so you leave with something useful, not just information gathering. My goal is to help clients move beyond survival patterns, develop greater self-understanding and build a life that feels more aligned with who they authentically are. Whether you're working through trauma, religious abuse, grief, anxiety, depression, dissociation or a major life transition, we'll move at a pace that feels manageable while focusing on meaningful and lasting change.
