Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Deborah Scott, a national certified counselor with dual licensure as a mental health counselor and marriage and family therapist. I also hold certification with international reciprocity as a master’s level addictions therapist. I have a master's in science in counseling psychology.

With 20+ years of experience in providing supportive counseling and therapy, I ensure each client receives individualized and ethical service. My training, education and experience includes individual and couples' work addressing communication, stress, depression, anxiety, PTSD, healthy relationships, recovery, career counseling and phase-of-life transitions.

My approach to therapy

My therapy approach is what’s known as “eclectic:” capitalizing on what works best for you from a range of evidence-based skill sets, to include Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), components of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) that include mindfulness and breathing techniques to alleviate stress, depression, anxiety; Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) to address reframing and replacing thinking and behaviors that have become self-defeating; Gestalt, application of family systems therapy, psycho-dynamic approaches and brief or solution focused therapy.

What you can expect from me

The goal of our work together will be to guide you in arriving at insight and self-growth; developing strategies and tools that you can use immediately to make desired changes in your life. You and I will define your outcomes and how we’ll get there, so throughout our time together you’ll be able to measure how far you’ve come and know where we’re heading. And if you just need a “place” to be heard, I’m here with you and for you.
