Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Douglas Zelisko (often affectionately referred to as "Dr. Z"), a Board-Certified Psychiatrist dedicated to holistic and integrative mental health care. My educational background includes degrees from Amherst College and St. George's University School of Medicine, followed by a Psychiatry residency at the UConn School of Medicine.

I specialize in treating adults with a wide range of issues, specifically:

  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Trauma
  • Grief and Loss
  • Relationship Issues
  • Focus / ADHD
  • Physical ailments related to mental health

My practice is unique in that I combine traditional psychiatric expertise with holistic methods to treat the "whole you"—mind, body, and spirit—rather than just addressing symptoms.

My approach to therapy

My approach is best described as I̲n̲t̲e̲g̲r̲a̲t̲i̲v̲e̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲I̲n̲d̲i̲v̲i̲d̲u̲a̲l̲i̲z̲e̲d̲. I believe in addressing the root causes of your struggles by considering your emotional, physical, and spiritual health together.

  • P̲r̲i̲m̲a̲r̲y̲ ̲M̲o̲d̲a̲l̲i̲t̲y̲: I primarily practice Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, though I am trained in various other modalities (such as CBT and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy) to best suit your specific needs.
  • H̲o̲l̲i̲s̲t̲i̲c̲ ̲F̲o̲c̲u̲s̲: I view treatment through a wide lens that goes beyond just medication. I integrate nutraceuticals, genetic insights, and comprehensive lifestyle coaching into my care.
  • T̲h̲e̲ ̲E̲n̲v̲i̲r̲o̲n̲m̲e̲n̲t̲: I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable being vulnerable and starting the process of healing.

What you can expect from me

You can expect a supportive environment where you feel truly heard. The primary goal of our first session is to conduct an i̲n̲-̲d̲e̲p̲t̲h̲ ̲a̲s̲s̲e̲s̲s̲m̲e̲n̲t̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲y̲o̲u̲r̲ ̲n̲e̲e̲d̲s̲.

Instead of a quick diagnosis, we will take the time to formulate a detailed treatment plan that is specifically tailored to you. This plan will likely extend beyond medication and therapy to include recommendations regarding:

  • Diet and Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Supplements

By the end of the session, the aim is to establish a collaborative provider-patient relationship where you feel supported every step of the way.
