Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Emma Altomonte, and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker & Supervisor (LISW-S). I earned my bachelor’s in social work from Ohio University and my master’s in social work from Ohio State University. I have worked in a variety of settings, including a domestic violence shelter, outpatient community mental health, and college mental health setting, where I have treated a wide range of presenting concerns.

My approach to therapy

My main clinical specialties include individuals who identify as LGBTQ+, childhood trauma, individuals who have experienced sexual violence, women's issues, and health and wellness concerns. I also treat individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, anger management, codependency / relationship conflict, life transitions, PTSD/CPTSD, and religious trauma. I am a person-centered, trauma-informed, strengths-based, compassion-focused, culturally sensitive practitioner who draws on many therapeutic approaches to provide the best care for my clients. I seek to utilize the best practice for each client's individual needs. Whether you need CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Psychodynamic Therapy, DBT (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, or Existential Therapy, we will work together to find the right therapeutic approach for you.

What you can expect from me

Everyone’s reason for coming to therapy is going to look different, so I don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. I strive to help my clients grow into the versions of themselves they desire, and to release the things that are no longer serving them. Through compassion, laid-back energy, a calm presence, and a little dark humor from time to time, we will reach the goals you have set out to accomplish in therapy. My role is to meet you where you are and help you make sense of what you’re going through in a way that feels manageable and meaningful. I look forward to connecting with you!
