Great to meet you!

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in adult and geriatric care (65+), I provide comprehensive treatment for ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, OCD, personality disorders, PTSD and trauma, schizophrenia and psychosis disorders, substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, mood disorders, and bipolar conditions. My practice recognizes that mental health needs evolve throughout different stages of adult life.

I'm particularly skilled at helping adults who are discovering mental health conditions they've lived with for years without knowing it, as well as older adults facing the intersection of mental health and aging. Many of my patients are surprised to learn that their lifelong struggles with focus, social situations, or emotional regulation have names and effective treatments available.

My treatment approach is built on respect, patience, and understanding. I know that starting mental health treatment as an adult or older adult can feel intimidating, especially if you've had negative experiences with healthcare in the past. I work to create a comfortable environment where you can share your experiences openly without fear of judgment.

I believe in practical, realistic treatment plans that fit into your actual life. Whether you're working full-time, caring for family members, managing health conditions, or navigating retirement, we'll develop strategies that work for your specific situation. My goal is to help you feel more confident, capable, and satisfied with your daily life while managing any symptoms that interfere with your well-being.

It's never too late to seek support and improve your quality of life. Healing is possible at every age. I'm experienced in medication management for older adults and understand the unique considerations that come with aging and multiple health conditions.

My approach to therapy

Psychiatric care, in my view, lives at the meeting point of rigorous clinical knowledge and authentic human warmth. Everything I do rests on current psychiatry and neuroscience, yet it is offered with profound empathy and a sincere, lasting investment in your overall wellbeing. Every person I work with carries a story wholly their own, and I never underestimate the courage it takes to share that story with me.

Partnership forms the very foundation of my practice. When you feel truly heard, healing becomes possible. I share my clinical reasoning and recommendations with full transparency and sincerely welcome your questions, concerns, and active participation in shaping your care. Whether we are weighing medication, evidence-based approaches, or meaningful lifestyle changes, you deserve to understand the reasoning behind every option we examine together.

I recommend medication when benefits clearly outweigh risks, prefer conservative starting doses when suitable, and continually reassess whether your treatment still serves your best interests. I also understand that medication is rarely the complete answer. Together we will develop practical coping skills, reshape thought patterns that no longer serve you, and create lasting routines that support your long-term health.

I hold a sharp awareness of how trauma, chronic stress, relationships, and life circumstances affect emotional wellness, and I bring cultural sensitivity and authentic care to every interaction. I also make a point of honoring every step forward. Progress need not be dramatic to hold real significance, and I want you to recognize your own resilience throughout this journey.

I believe recovery is attainable for everyone, and I carry that conviction into each and every encounter. Understanding your aspirations and daily realities matters profoundly to me. You are far more than a patient—you are a complete person who deserves my full and unwavering commitment.

What you can expect from me

From the moment we first meet, your initial appointment has one essential aim: making certain you feel truly heard, sincerely valued, and fully understood. We'll discuss what brings you in, whether you're coping with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, or other difficulties influencing your everyday life. I'll ask purposeful questions to build a complete view of your symptoms, covering their character, how often they appear, their intensity, and typical triggers, plus the length of time you've been affected, whether patterns have shifted, and what approaches you have tried so far.

We'll examine earlier diagnoses, prior treatment experiences, and your responses to different medications or other methods. If psychiatric medications are part of your history, we'll review each one in detail: the medication itself, duration of use, dosage, effectiveness, and the reason it was eventually stopped. You will never feel judged or rushed, because this is a space where your whole story is welcome.

Your wider medical background matters equally, as current health conditions, active prescriptions, known allergies, seizure history, and physical symptoms all inform prescribing choices that remain safe and carefully individualized. We'll also explore your daily routines, sleep patterns, substance use, workplace pressures, personal relationships, and the support systems available to you.

Your formative experiences, trauma history, meaningful losses, and how you presently manage stress and painful emotions are all important pieces of this broader picture. Once we've built a strong foundation together, we'll decide whether medication management is the right path ahead for you. I'll share my clinical impressions candidly and welcome any questions you have along the way. You'll leave our first session with clarity about next steps and the confidence that you have a dedicated partner supporting you forward.
