Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome to my space! My name is Jamila (Jah-me-lah) and I am a LISW-S for the state of Ohio.

I work well with women who are experiencing internal conflict, difficulty managing emotions, or feeling unseen, invalidated, or unsupported in their current environments. Whether they are navigating relationship stress, family pressures, life transitions, or healing from past experiences, I provide a space that centers validation, honesty, and growth. My approach is warm, relatable, and collaborative, allowing clients to feel comfortable showing up as their full, authentic selves.

I developed a passion for people and pursued my interests while receiving a BA in psychology in 2016, and a Master’s in Social Work in 2019. Ever since, I have been exploring work through partnership with a variety of cultures, with intent on health and healing.

Whether you are new to therapy or returning to deepen your work, I meet you where you are—with care, curiosity, and respect for your journey.

My approach to therapy

I often work with people who have been “the strong one” for others—deep feelers, caregivers, and those who find themselves stuck in patterns of people-pleasing, codependency, or difficulty trusting themselves. Many of my clients are unpacking experiences related to abandonment, rejection, identity concerns, or emotional overwhelm. I also support neurodivergent individuals who are seeking greater understanding of themselves and more effective ways to regulate their emotions and experiences.

My approach is warm, intentional, and grounded in the belief that healing does not have to feel cold or clinical. Therapy with me is a collaborative process where we move at your pace, creating space for reflection, emotional processing, and practical growth. Together, we will explore your experiences, challenge unhelpful patterns, strengthen boundaries, and reconnect you with a version of yourself that feels authentic and steady.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely normal to come into your first session with a mix of emotions—uncertainty, curiosity, nervousness, or even relief. My goal in our first session is to create a space where you feel welcomed, safe, and able to show up as you are, without pressure to have everything figured out.

We’ll begin by getting to know each other. I’ll introduce myself, share a bit about how I work, and go over important information like confidentiality, your rights as a client, and what therapy can look like moving forward. This is also a space for you to ask any questions you may have—whether about the process, my approach, or anything else that would help you feel more comfortable.

From there, we’ll gently begin exploring what brought you to therapy. You don’t have to tell your entire story all at once. Instead, I’ll invite you to share at your own pace about what’s been weighing on you, what you’ve been experiencing emotionally, and what you feel is “not quite right.” This might include current stressors, relationship dynamics, past experiences, or patterns you’ve noticed in your thoughts, feelings, or behaviors.

I may ask questions to better understand your background, including your emotional history, support systems, coping strategies, and any previous experiences with therapy. This helps me begin to see the full picture of who you are—not just what you’re struggling with, but also your strengths, resilience, and the ways you’ve already been navigating life.

I bring a gentle, human-centered energy into the work. While therapy is meaningful and sometimes heavy, I believe it doesn’t have to feel cold or overly clinical. There is room for moments of lightness, connection, and even joy within the process. Healing can be both deep and soft at the same time.
