Janiqua Obey

My name is Janiqua Obey, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of North Carolina. I earned my MSW from the University of Southern California with a concentration in Military Social Work. I have over 12 years of mental/behavioral health experience ranging from providing outpatient, residential, and community based services to youth, families, and adults. I have also been a provider in the k-12 school system rendering non-medical counseling to students and their families.

My specialties consist of providing services to those who have experienced trauma, and forms of anxiety and depression, as well as assisting parents with addressing behavioral difficulties in youth. I utilize approaches such as person-centered, strength-based, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I am also a rostered Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT), a Certified Specialist in Anger Management (CSAM) and a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist (CGCS).

Life can come at us hard, and sometimes harder than we want it to be. For these reasons, I am here. I am here to remind you of what you are capable of or help enlighten you to the butterfly within. I am passionate about getting to know you, partnering with you, and providing you with guidance and support that will lead you to the life you want and deserve with the skills, tools, and resources you need.
