Great to meet you!

I have 20 years of experience working with clients in social services in a variety of areas including mental health, health care, disability and family services. For the past 10 years, I have been practicing as a Clinical Social Worker. I currently practice with 3 primary care groups in the San Antonio area where I collaboratively work with people’s primary care providers to co-manage mental health issues with psychotherapy and pharmaceuticals. I also see patients virtually via telehealth.

My approach to therapy

Social workers have a dual background: one foot in Psychology and one foot in Sociology. We appreciate that our thoughts and emotions are impacted by our biology and our social environment (such as our cultural and family backgrounds, work situation or social relationships). In other words: “it’s not just in our heads.” Some of our core values are respecting the individual worth and dignity of each person and at the center of the personal growth process is an authentic human relationship.

What you can expect from me

Emotional health difficulties are like a cold, everyone gets them from time to time. However, if the cold goes on for weeks or keeps on getting worse, you should probably see a healthcare professional. This is true for our emotional health as well. If we want to be healthy, we have to take care of ourselves: body, mind and soul. Psychotherapy is medical treatment and care intended to relieve or heal the soul. It is a journey of self-discovery, personal growth, healing and wholeness.
