Great to meet you!

Dr. Jody Mountcastle has 20 years of experience helping adults navigate trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and major life transitions. Jody integrates cognitive, behavioral, and somatic therapies to support emotional healing, nervous system regulation, resolution, and recovery. Jody's approach is warm and collaborative, supporting learning and lasting, meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

My clients are often thoughtful, caring adults who feel overwhelmed, exhausted, stuck, or disconnected from themselves after years of stress, caregiving, trauma, grief, or major life transitions. Many of my clients are people who have spent years caring for others and are ready to focus on their own healing and well-being.Together, we work to reduce emotional distress, strengthen resilience, and create a life that feels more aligned with their values and goals. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique goals and experiences.

I integrate evidence-based therapies including CBT, DBT skills, EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), mindfulness, and somatic approaches. I also take an integrative approach to mental health, recognizing that emotional well-being is influenced by factors such as stress, sleep, relationships, daily routines, physical health, and self-care. Therapy may include practical strategies that support both emotional healing and overall wellness.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, grieving a loss, or struggling with the effects of past experiences, therapy can provide a space to process challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change. My goal is to help you develop practical tools while fostering deeper healing and self-understanding.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a chance for us to begin building a therapeutic relationship and explore what has led you to seek support at this time. I'll spend time learning about your current challenges, your strengths, what you've already tried, and what you hope to gain from therapy.

You can expect a conversational, collaborative approach rather than feeling like you're being interviewed. We'll discuss your goals, answer any questions you have about the therapy process, and begin developing a plan that feels right for you.

Most importantly, I want you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the path forward.
