Great to meet you!

Joel Cruz, LCSW, received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English from Brooklyn College and his Master’s degree in Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. He provides support to individuals wrestling with anxiety, depression, life stressors, interpersonal conflicts, and trauma. He also offers an affirming, safe space for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ folks to explore their identities holistically and deconstruct their narratives.

My approach to therapy

While incorporating a strength-based, trauma-informed approach, Joel uses a blend of psychotherapeutic styles including narrative therapy, CBT, and psychoanalysis. He welcomes each person to share their story unapologetically and unpack life experiences.

What you can expect from me

Joel firmly believes in the inherent strength of each individual to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Unfortunately, adversity can sometimes limit a person's ability to tap into their own potential. By offering his unwavering support and guidance, Joel strives to empower his clients, helping them to further understand themselves and their situation, harness their innate abilities, and move closer towards finding solutions.
