Great to meet you!

Are you looking for a way out or a way in? While I fully endorse a symptom management approach (reducing stress, decreasing problem behaviors, renewing a sense of purpose), the real struggle comes in determining the root cause of dis-ease. In unique ways better and worse parents, siblings, spouses, partners, children, friends and coworkers are all impactful in the unfolding of personality. Giving attention to these delicate relationships is essential to understanding how patterns of emotional reactivity and retreat can emerge. Effective talk therapy provides space for attunement with needs met and unmet, for safety, for recognition.

Having worked in Community Mental Health, I am familiar with addressing a broad range of client needs. I I am veteran of the US Army and have an MA in Eastern Classics. I have participatory experience with therapeutic psychedelics as well as with assisting in preparation and integration.

My approach to therapy

A bit of cherished wisdom from my first semester of social work school: "the client is the expert." Unless specifically requested, I will avoid offering advice. A therapist is best defined as helpmeet or complement. As such my directive is to know you, to support you, and to assist you in clearing obstacles on the path toward greater life satisfaction.

What you can expect from me

I don't believe suffering is destiny, nor that regular therapy is simply a tool for minimizing or mitigating distress and despair. Whatever our individual circumstances, the outcome we seek is a consistent, creative return to optimal functioning. To this end I offer my skills, training and lived experience to help you navigate the journey home.
