Great to meet you!

Katherine- or Katu- is a proud fat, Queer, Genderfluid, first-generation Honduran-American who migrated to New York from Tegucigalpa as a teen. Informed by social justice and decolonizing frameworks, they view therapy as a human right and a tool toward our collective liberation. Katu aims to co-create with clients a therapeutic space that centers connectedness and safety, in which a client can explore the relationship between their self, their identities, and the systemic scripts that are imposed on them.

My approach to therapy

By implementing Internal Family Systems (IFS) with somatic and creative or artistic techniques, Katu offers a therapeutic space that is de-pathologizing and person-centered. You are not your diagnosis or your symptoms- you are a whole human being!

What you can expect from me

First sessions with me can look any number of different ways. I like to meet folks where they're at which means every session is going to look a little bit different. Common topics we may cover include goals for treatment, any history you feel like sharing, and what has been on your mind/your motivation to start therapy.
