Great to meet you!

Are you tired of masking? Feeling secretly exhausted? Hi, I'm Kathleen Smith (she/they) and I am proudly an LGBTQ+ & neurodivergent therapist. I am a doctoral candidate and have more than 9 years of training and experience in marriage and family therapy & substance use counseling. I love being a therapist because I find the work rewarding and fulfilling; I love helping people shine! All of the work I do is evidence-based and grounded in attachment theory as research shows that supporting healthy relationships creates long-lasting changes for you and your loved ones. I would be honored to work with you.

My approach to therapy

My style is warm, respectful, and active. In our sessions together, you can expect me to listen, ask questions, provide practical tools you can easily access, and to gently challenge you to stretch yourself to reach your goals. I value authenticity and emotional honesty, but understand that it takes time to open up. In our work together I aim to blend the head and the heart, making sure we take time to focus on your unique experiences while also providing the best possible treatment options available.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I want us to get to know each other better and for you to ask me any question because finding the right provider is really important (and let's face it - can be challenging!). You deserve to take your time to decide if that person is truly me. I also aim to provide you with a tool or idea that is easily accessible right away, so that you don't have to wait to start working towards your therapy goal. I look forward to working with you!
