Katie received a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University in Psychology and a Master of Arts from Central Michigan University in Professional Counseling. Ms. Hughes was also certified in Trauma Informed Therapy Practices beginning in 2019 through Starr Commonwealth. Ms Hughes specializes in treating depressive disorder, anxiety, trauma disorders and some mood disorders.

My approach to therapy

Katie uses cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, mindfulness techniques and trauma informed based therapy. Reframing and challenging irrational beliefs has also proven helpful to combat feelings of dysregulation.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to help clients bridge the gap of disconnect between their mind and body. Overall I hope that clients will feel more in control of their emotions and responses. Developing introspection and having insight into ones self is essential to manifesting resilience.
