Great to meet you!

  • Hi, my name is Dr. Kinikia Burdine. I am a combat veteran. Since joining the military, I learned the importance of mental health firsthand. I dedicated my life to the pursuit of helping others put the pieces back together. I obtained my BSW and MSW from TAMU-Commerce, and my DSW from the University of Southern California. I worked in hospice, and with Service Men and Women, First Responders, caregivers and diverse walks of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is to use scientific back modalities. I believe focusing in the here and now allows you to process your challenges today. Although there will be a need to reflect on the past, the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with Solution Focused Therapy. I am equipped to help you learn tools to cope and motivate you to be your best self.“I’m so glad you took this first step of reaching out for support! We will navigate the challenges you are facing in a warm and affirming environment. I am dedicated to your wellness and success. I want our sessions to feel helpful and worthwhile. I work with sincerity, compassion and nonjudgement, and will provide a nurturing environment where you can talk candidly about your concerns. If you meet me halfway, we can make major improvements together. Remember, YOU GOT THIS!

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect our connection to begin. This is an opportunity for me to learn more about you, your story, and what has brought you to therapy. We will start the assessment process by exploring your concerns, identifying your goals, and discussing what you hope to gain from our work together.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and from this moment forward, we are a team. My role is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered. Together, we will work toward creating meaningful change and helping you move closer to the life you want for yourself.
