Great to meet you!

My name is Dr. LaToya K. Williams, and I have been working as a mental health professional for over 20 years. As a forensic and neuropsychologist, I understand how social stressors alter the brain; thus, causing mental health symptoms, frustration, stress, and trauma.

Trauma includes emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, ongoing invalidation, and neglect. This could have occurred during childhood or adulthood, in your home or outside of your home (e.g., church, work, school, romantic relationships, etc.). I am trained in several empirically-based therapies so that you will have access to the best options that are effective.

I also specialize in multiculturalism and have a strong background working with poly, fetlife, LGBTQ+ communities. When I am not working as a forensic and neuro evaluator, I’m working as a gender specialist.

My approach to therapy

Many people have dealt with difficult situations (such as unstable family relationships, challenging romantic relationships, abuse, and trauma). Many people want the support to overcome these challenges. I offer support by empowering my clients with knowledge, esteem, and hope, as well as using research-based techniques to reduce symptoms.

What you can expect from me

Clients will complete therapy having an improved outlook on how to manage stressors. They will be better able to assess when they are overreacting, underreacting, when no reaction is necessary, when a boundary is warranted, and when coping is warranted. They will be better equipped to manage life challenges.
