Hi, I'm Alex! My path into this work began in early childhood development, where I learned just how much our earliest relationships and experiences shape the way we move through the world as adults. That foundation still informs everything I do; I'm endlessly curious about the "why" behind how we feel and behave, and I hold that curiosity with warmth and zero judgment.
Outside of my practice you'll usually find me behind a camera. Photography taught me to slow down and pay attention to small, beautiful details, and to appreciate that the same scene can look completely different depending on where you're standing (a lesson that I find turns out to be pretty useful in therapy as well). I love being out in nature whenever I can and at home I share my space with a cuddly cat who supervises most of my day.
My name is Courtney and I have 5+ years specializing in working with adults and teens dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and life transitions. I firmly believe that healthy, genuine relationships are the foundation for healing, and I strive to make everyone feel seen, heard, and know that they matter. My mission is to help you take your power back.
I have a Masters in Counselor Education and a dual licensure in clinical mental health and school counseling, and have spent time in both the private practice and school settings. I believe finding the right therapist is essential to your growth and healing.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist and doctoral professor specializing in evidence-based psychotherapy for adolescents, college students, and young adults with ADHD, executive functioning difficulties, academic concerns, and co-occurring mood disorders. Drawing from advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), executive functioning interventions, and experience in integrated healthcare and university settings, I provide tailored, individualized care that promotes psychological flexibility and being an agent of change in your life.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years working in the social work field helping families with life challenges. My professional background is working in child welfare, medical social work, veteran mental health and private practice. I am also certified in Trauma-Informed-Care and as a First Responder Counselor, allowing me to provide specialized support to individuals who have experienced trauma. I strive to create an environment where clients feel heard, respected and understood. While I provide compassion and support, I am also an active therapist who will challenge unhelpful patterns when necessary. I believe growth happens when we balance acceptance with accountability.

Finding the right therapist in Appleton starts with identifying what kind of support you're looking for. Whether you're seeking help with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or life transitions, look for a licensed provider who specializes in your area of need. Common license types in Wisconsin include LPC, LCSW, LMFT, and psychologist — and if you're interested in medication management, a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner may be the right fit.
Appleton and the surrounding Fox Cities area have a range of mental health providers, which can make narrowing your search feel like a lot. Consider what matters most to you beyond credentials — things like whether a provider offers virtual or in-person sessions, their therapeutic approach, and whether their schedule works with yours. Reading a provider's bio before booking can help you get a sense of their style and decide if they're a good match.
Therapy in the Appleton area can be costly without coverage, but using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce what you pay. On Headway, you can enter your insurance details to see estimated session costs before you book, and out-of-pocket costs may vary based on your plan and location. Nationally, Headway partners with over 100 insurance plans, making it easier to find a therapist who fits your needs and your budget.
