Great to meet you!

My name is Mary Beth and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in NJ and DE with over 11 years of experience providing therapy services. I have worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings including: outpatient, adult partial care, residential for adolescents, therapeutic foster care, and intensive in-home counseling for children and families. I specialize in clients affected by depression, anxiety, bipolar, Autism, grief and loss, domestic violence, and trauma from individual, group and family work. I am originally from New Jersey. I received my undergraduate degree in Sociology at the University of Arizona and my Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling at Capella University.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client centered: you are the expert on your life and you determine the direction and depth of therapy. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I draw on multiple evidence based treatment modalities to guide you in identifying strengths and developing treatment plans that accomplish your goals at your pace. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we can explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to discover thought patterns leading to behaviors and beliefs that cause difficulties. Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I will support you in developing skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal skills, and emotion regulation with the goal of moving clients towards a life increasing the capacity for experiencing joy and freedom.

What you can expect from me

I will give you practical ways step by step to feel more in control of your physical body, thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. I will ask you to read, listen or watch things that will give you a greater understanding and insight into yourself. I will follow up each session on what we discussed and h.w. for that session. I will care deeply about your wellbeing and success.
