Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Olivia Withers, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. I support adults and older teens (16+) in working through difficult experiences, building emotional awareness, recognizing and communicating personal needs, developing healthier boundaries, and processing life’s transitions. These transitions may include relationship changes, career shifts, or, for older teens, navigating the challenges of adulting and the transition into college. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore what feels heavy, gain clarity about your needs, and strengthen the skills that help you feel grounded and confident in your everyday life.

My approach to therapy

I believe that understanding and processing the past allows us to live more fully in the present. Research and clinical practice show that working through unresolved experiences can significantly reduce anxiety, depression, low confidence, relational conflict, and burnout. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy with an emphasis on Emotional Intelligence, Self-Compassion, and Inner Child Work. These approaches help clients connect past experiences with current challenges, and build healthier lifestyle patterns. For older teens, I adapt these methods to emphasize growth, responsibility, and managing new transitions with greater self-assurance. My aim is always to help you strengthen self-awareness, restore balance, and create meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Counseling begins with building a foundation of trust—what has been broken down in unhealthy dynamics can begin to rebuild in a healthy, supportive space. In our first sessions, we’ll focus on establishing our therapeutic relationship through open, empathetic conversation while exploring your history and present concerns. Together, we’ll identify your goals and create a plan that reflects your needs, whether that means processing a past trauma, navigating a relationship or career change, or developing tools for independence and confidence in making future decisions.
