Currently practicing in a skilled nursing facility, Sara specializes in geriatric psychiatry and dementia care—providing psychiatric assessments, medication management, and long-term mental health support for aging populations.

My approach to therapy

My Approach to Care

As a dual-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner, my approach to care is rooted in holistic, person-centered, and evidence-based practice. I strive to understand each patient not only through their symptoms, but also through their unique life story, values, and cultural background.

In geriatric psychiatry and dementia care, I focus on building trust and therapeutic rapport with patients and families. I take the time to listen carefully, involve families in care planning, and promote dignity, comfort, and emotional well-being—especially for those navigating cognitive decline and chronic conditions.

My care philosophy includes:

  • Collaborative treatment planning with patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Balancing medication management with non-pharmacological interventions
  • Cultural sensitivity, especially in serving bilingual or immigrant populations
  • Emphasizing quality of life, not just symptom control
  • Proactive prevention and early intervention where possible

I believe in empowering patients with knowledge, supporting them through transitions, and creating a safe, respectful space where healing can begin. Whether in a skilled nursing facility or my private practice, my goal is always the same: to provide compassionate, individualized care that improves both mental and physical health outcomes.

What you can expect from me

Clients working with me can expect a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel truly heard and understood. Each session is focused on building trust and working together to identify what is most important to you—whether it’s symptom relief, improved daily functioning, emotional support, or long-term mental wellness.

Here’s what you can expect to take away from our sessions:

  • A clear understanding of your mental health concerns and how they may be impacting your daily life
  • Personalized treatment plans that may include medication management, supportive therapy, or lifestyle changes
  • Open, two-way communication where your input is valued and questions are always welcome
  • Education and empowerment to help you take an active role in your care and recovery
  • Practical tools and coping strategies you can begin using right away
  • Consistency and follow-up to ensure progress and adjust your care plan as needed

I believe meaningful progress comes from a combination of clinical knowledge, compassion, and collaboration. My goal is for each session to leave you feeling supported, informed, and more in control of your mental health journey.
