Shaunna Abuya

I am a fully licensed clinical social worker with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Calvin College and a Master of Social Work from Western Michigan University, completed in 2017. My clinical experience spans working with youth, adults, and families in school-based, community, and clinical settings, with a strong emphasis on mental health and family-centered care. I have also participated in international study experiences, including studying abroad in Puerto Rico and in Chicago at an agency servicing Veterans, which has contributed to my cultural awareness and clinical perspective.

I specialize in working with youth and families, using a family systems approach that views the home as an interconnected system where change in one area can positively shift the whole.

My work is warm, direct, and empowering, creating a space where clients feel supported while also being challenged to grow.

I focus on helping individuals, groups and families understand patterns, identify unhelpful thinking, and build healthier ways of communicating and responding to one another.

Sessions are collaborative and practical, blending insight with real-life strategies that can be applied at home. The overall goal is to support you in becoming a stronger, more aligned version of yourselves—not just individually, but also within your relationships—so you can show up better for yourselves and for those around you while building confidence, self-belief, and emotional resilience.
