Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Stephen Barine, a Licensed Clinical Therapist with a focus on helping children, teens, and adults navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and clarity. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and faith-integrated counseling, blending practical tools with compassionate understanding. My Approach My work centers on creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, strengthen coping skills, and rediscover hope. I believe therapy should be practical and empowering — offering strategies that can be applied immediately to real-life situations.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic style is integrative, combining elements of CBT, mindfulness, and person-centered counseling. I tailor each session to your unique needs and goals, integrates faith-based principles when requested by the client evidence-based therapy techniques such as CBT and Motivational Interviewing. I believe emotional healing happens when we align our thoughts, beliefs, and values. You can expect a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental atmosphere where you feel safe to explore your story. My role is to walk alongside you — offering insight, tools, and encouragement as you move toward emotional healing and personal growth.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my goal is to create a safe, comfortable, and judgment-free space where you can share your story at your own pace. We’ll begin by discussing what brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and any goals or concerns you’d like to explore.

I’ll ask a few background questions to better understand your experiences, strengths, and challenges — not to label or judge, but to help me see the full picture of who you are and how I can best support you.

This session is also your opportunity to get a feel for my approach and ask any questions you may have about therapy, confidentiality, or what our work together will look like. I view therapy as a collaborative process, so we’ll work together to outline realistic goals and next steps that fit your needs and pace.

Most clients leave their first session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful — with a clearer sense of direction and the assurance that they don’t have to navigate their challenges alone.

If faith or spirituality is an important part of your life, we can also integrate those values into our sessions as a source of strength and guidance.
