Great to meet you!

I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling from Liberty University (2012) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2006). I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor in North Carolina (License #S10191) and have been a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate since March 2018 (LCAS-24247). My counseling journey began during my graduate internship in December 2011 at a mental health and substance abuse agency. I have experience working with adolescents and adults in individual and group settings, focusing on trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and addressing personal, behavioral, emotional, relationship, family, and addiction-related challenges.

My approach to therapy

I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults in both individual and group settings, with a specialization in trauma therapy. My educational background has equipped me with knowledge in individual and family counseling, as well as career development.

The theoretical approaches I utilize include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and person-centered therapy:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns to improve behavior and emotional responses.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a non-judgmental approach aimed at increasing a client’s awareness of behavioral risks and encouraging change.
  • Person-Centered Therapy emphasizes self-awareness and promotes personal growth by focusing on the client’s strengths and positive attributes.

Additionally, I have gained skills in conducting mental status exams and using Geno Maps to support comprehensive client assessments and treatment planning.

What you can expect from me

In our sessions, we will work collaboratively to develop personalized goals that align with your desires and needs. You can expect a combination of talk therapy and psychoeducation to help you gain insight, build skills, and work toward meaningful change.
