My approach to therapy

While some level of anxiety is normal when challenging times arise; if the anxiety symptoms prevent you from moving forward or making progress with your professional or personal life; it is wise to seek help.

Often high performers are accustomed to managing everything on their own, but now may find themselves exhausted.

It may be that you've tried- what feels like everything- to feel better, but there is still something gnawing at you. Sometimes it may be latent pain gets in the way, when you least expect it. If you feel like something is holding you back or preventing you from stepping out in the direction you want your life to go. Let's look at that.

Too often, we unknowingly smuggle our past pain and ways of coping, into our future. Let's explore what's in the way- of what you want. If you are going through a difficult chapter in your life or struggling to navigate a challenging life transition- there is hope.

I often explore family of origin, to learn about developmental years and how you see the world. What did you learn about friendship, romantic relationships, work, family, safety and Your Value? What did you learn - to believe about yourself and how is that impacting what you are experiencing today?

I also often rely on ACT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This modality focused on being present, cognitive difusion, identifying your values and committed action steps. It's a process that can feel challenging, yet helps you learn how to turn down the dial of anxiety and move forward in the direction you want your life to go.

What you can expect from me

During our first meeting, I will ask questions to learn about your background, history as well as the primary concern(s) that brings you to therapy.

Just as your fingerprint is unique, so are your life experiences. People have various reasons they seek out therapy: painful experiences, questioning your beliefs or identity, symptoms of anxiety or depression, or existential concerns. So there is no "One size fits all" theory.

I will also ask you about what has NOT worked for you in the past. Whether a particular theoretical approach, methods you have tried before like therapy or self help, books or media that resonated with you or felt off. I will rely on you to share what you are thinking and feeling.
