During your first session, my primary goal is to get to know you and your family—not just the challenges that brought you here, but also your strengths, values, and goals. I take a comprehensive, whole-family approach to care, recognizing that behavior, emotions, and mental health are influenced by many interconnected factors.
We will spend time discussing developmental history, medical history, family dynamics, school or work experiences, daily routines, sleep, nutrition, sensory needs, and any concerns related to attention, learning, emotional regulation, or behavior. For neurodivergent individuals, I am particularly interested in understanding how their unique brain works and how we can best support their success.
Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses, I aim to understand the underlying factors contributing to current challenges. Together, we will identify priorities, discuss treatment options, and begin developing a personalized care plan that aligns with your family's goals and values.
By the end of the appointment, you can expect to have a clearer understanding of my recommendations, opportunities to ask questions, and a collaborative plan for next steps. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, understood, and empowered with a path forward.
