Great to meet you!

I began my company, "Color of Change: Healing and Hope Counseling," because let's face it, today, the world is moving at a rapid pace, often leaving individuals spinning with less time to breathe or practice self-care and self-reflection, or addressing their personal, family, marital, and spiritual needs. You can be provided with direction and clarity to slow life's experiences, allowing you to focus on your individual needs and those within your support system or sphere of influence. The world is unrecognizable and unsettling to many, and adjusting has become challenging to navigate and adapt to the fast, complicated, and radical internal and external changes. The role of a therapist is to help you find yourself and your strengths amid life's emotional, psychological, relational, spiritual, and physical challenges. As you partner with your therapist, you embark on a path to thrive in the face of changes and difficulties.

Therefore, this therapist/clinician (Dr. Myria) needs to meet all clients where they are. Dr. Myria works intensely to provide a safe place where clients can openly share and speak the truth. Each person deserves support in navigating personal and environmental stressors. She strives to create a non-judgmental and non-critical atmosphere, enabling individuals, families, couples, and groups at various stages of growth and healing to relate to and receive services effectively.

My approach to therapy

Dr. Whitcomb is consistently self-aware enough to ensure that she is compassionate and sensitive to the life experiences of those within a humanistic and culturally based context. This highlights the clinician's commitment to serving all individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences. The true goal of wellness and understanding self in various contexts is to put in the hard work, practice, and tenacity to reduce symptoms, build self-worth, and thrive. Dr. Myria engages in integrative faith-based and clinical practices and treatment frameworks designed for individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. She integrates her Master of Social Work and Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling education to address and meet the clinical and spiritual needs of her clients according to their requests. Using an integrative and interactive approach, she accesses several clinical modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Bibliotherapy, Creative Therapy, Marriage and Couples Counseling, Spiritual Counseling, Religious Reconstruction, Trauma-Informed Therapy, and Racial Trauma Therapy, to name a few. This therapist is concerned about the quality of help for women of all ages and cultures, African American women's issues, Seniors, and those with Emotional disturbances, low Self-esteem, and many who need coaching to fulfill their destinies and dreams. To maintain her practice skills. Dr. Myria ensures proficiency in the latest and most relevant clinical practices, as well as emerging studies, treatment frameworks, multicultural issues, and overall treatment plans and guidelines for all her clients. Her focus on development enables the therapist to effectively confront, treat, and implement best practices for the health and growth of her clients. Dr. Myria is qualified academically, with practical and experiential learning in various clinical settings.

What you can expect from me

Dr. Bailey’s clinical goals for her patients are to develop positive coping skills and healthy lifestyle patterns, thereby improving their quality of life and personal well-being. In her sessions, you can expect her to provide an atmosphere of non-judgement, acceptance, belonging, and safety. A space where clients can release every emotion, engaging all of their senses. Additionally, this therapist believes that clients can use their creative interests as a path to a flourishing life. Her sessions are open for her clients to bring their support system or people with whom they feel are a part of their healing journey. This therapist is a realist who will challenge, love, laugh, and sit with individuals as they navigate tools to gain control over their symptoms, rather than letting their systems control them. Dr. Myria’s office space is designed to create a warm, peaceful environment where each client can discover their voice and be heard. Dr. Myria believes in treating clients from an eclectic, honest, and guided approach. She will walk beside you and not over you. Clients can expect to leave each session with hope, education, strength, empowerment, and a deeper understanding that they are more than enough, thanks to improved self-esteem, worth, self-image, and homework assignments.
