Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Peter Clauter, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who specializes in working with kids and teens — the most honest, hilarious, and surprisingly wise humans on the planet. I'm a UT Austin grad (Hook 'em!) with a background in engineering, which just means I'm endlessly curious about how everything fits together and deeply solution-oriented — turns out that translates pretty well to brain chemistry. I focus on medication management, but I believe it's only one piece of the picture — I always work closely with families and other providers to make sure your child gets well-rounded care. Fair warning: my office has an impressive collection of fidgets and cool toys, and yes — parents are absolutely allowed to play too.

My approach to therapy

My approach is simple: kids don't exist in a vacuum, and neither does good psychiatric care. I work collaboratively with the whole family because parents and caregivers are just as important to the process as the child sitting across from me. I specialize in ADHD and Autism, and I take time to really understand each kid's unique brain before anything else. When it comes to medication, I see it as one powerful tool in the toolbox — never a cure-all, always individualized, and ideally paired with therapy and other supports. My goal is for every family to leave feeling heard, informed, and actually optimistic about the road ahead.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is less interrogation, more conversation — and yes, we might play Jenga. I create a relaxed, low-pressure environment where kids can just be kids while I get to know them naturally. I'll spend time with the whole family learning about your child's history, what's been challenging, and yes — I'll ask about parenting style too, because context is everything. By the end of our first visit, my goal is for you to leave with clarity: a diagnosis, a personalized treatment plan, and an actual path forward. No vague "let's just see how it goes" — you'll know exactly where we're starting and why. Think of it as the most productive game of Jenga you've ever played.
