My approach to therapy

My Approach to Therapy as a Christian Counselor

I approach therapy from a holistic and integrative perspective, recognizing the deep connection between mind, body, and spirit. As a Christian counselor, I believe that true healing involves not only emotional and psychological growth but also spiritual restoration.

My work is grounded in evidence-based therapeutic practices, including cognitive-behavioral and person-centered approaches, while thoughtfully integrating Christian faith when it aligns with the client’s values and desires. I respect each individual’s unique journey and provide a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their struggles.

For clients who wish to incorporate faith, I may include prayer, Scripture reflection, and spiritual encouragement as part of the therapeutic process. At the same time, I honor each client’s autonomy and tailor the counseling experience to meet their personal beliefs, goals, and readiness.

I am particularly attentive to issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and identity, helping clients develop practical coping skills while also discovering deeper meaning, hope, and purpose.

My goal is to walk alongside clients with empathy and wisdom, supporting them in healing, growth, and living a more balanced and fulfilling life.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. Clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where they can share at their own pace.

During this session, I will gather information about your current concerns, personal history, and goals for therapy. We may discuss what brought you to counseling, any symptoms or challenges you are experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our work together.

I will also explain my approach to therapy, including how I integrate evidence-based practices and, if desired, Christian faith into the counseling process. This is a time for you to ask questions, express any preferences, and share what feels most important to you.

Together, we will begin to identify initial goals and outline a plan for moving forward. You will not be expected to share everything at once—this is just the beginning of the journey.

My goal in the first session is to help you feel heard, respected, and supported as we take the first step toward healing and growth.
