Great to meet you!

I have about a decade of experience helping people dealing with loss and grief, going through major life transitions, learning to live in a new culture, and suffering from the effects of trauma. Much of my work has been with refugees and immigrants. I did my social work degree in Chicago and worked in non-profits there before moving back to the South.

My approach to therapy

I believe we all have the "answers" ourselves and often can find them when someone is truly listening to us. I try to help you to feel understood and to find some relief from what feels overwhelming. I know that you don’t have to be an immigrant to experience feeling lonely and out of place, or to suffer with grief, anxiety, loss or painful experiences in the past. I can suggest skills or new ideas we can try together to help you to deal with these difficult emotions.

What you can expect from me

My goal is that you feel heard and understood, and that you can take away some new insights, information, or skills that help you. I won’t push you to share more than you feel ready to.

If you're interested in working with me but need more info, check out my website amydixlcsw.com to see more or set up a consultation call.

I offer in-person sessions at my office downtown Asheville on Fridays.
