Great to meet you!

I'm Dax Johnson, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) based in Murray, Utah. I work with adults who are ready to stop carrying what's been weighing them down — whether that's unhealed trauma that keeps showing up in the present, self-sabotaging patterns they can't seem to break no matter how hard they try, or deep negative beliefs about themselves that feel completely true even when they aren't. As someone who has navigated my own patterns and hurts, I understand firsthand what it means to struggle in ways that aren't always visible to others — and the real courage it takes to ask for help. If you're ready to do something real about what's been holding you back, I'd love to connect.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, honest, and direct in equal measure. I lead with grace and bring genuine care into every session. You'll always feel heard and never judged in this space, and at the same time, I'm not a passive presence — I'll walk alongside you with honesty, notice patterns worth naming, and gently challenge you when I believe you're capable of more than you're giving yourself credit for. I use a mix of four evidence-based approaches — EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy — chosen based on what each person needs to get to the root of what's keeping them stuck. The goal is never just to help you cope and barely maintain the balance; it's to help you actually change.

What you can expect from me

The first session is simply about getting to know each other. There is no pressure to have it all figured out or know exactly what to say. I'll walk you through how the process works, answer any questions you have, and give you a real chance to get a feel for who I am and whether this feels like the right fit. From there I'll start getting to know your story — not just what you're struggling with, but who you are, how you got here, and where you're hoping to go. Showing up for that first session takes more courage than most people give themselves credit for, and I don't take that lightly.
