Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Holly Whitfield, a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).

Some patients want a psychiatric provider who will simply write a prescription and send them on their way. Others want a practitioner who will look closely at their complete medical picture, give them honest and kind feedback, and build a tailored, actionable treatment plan. That is exactly what I offer.

Who I Work With & How I Help I provide care for patients across the entire lifespan, from children to adults.

My Background I earned my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a PMHNP from Purdue University. Before stepping into advanced psychiatric practice, I built a robust, diverse medical foundation, earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and my Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Eastern Virginia Career College.

My extensive background spans clinical service delivery as both a Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). I have cared for patients in hospital emergency departments, pediatric urgent care centers, public secondary schools, postpartum units, and specialized outpatient medical practices. Additionally, I hold active certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and I speak intermediate Spanish.

Let's Get to Work I am available for appointments at our Stafford, Virginia office location. If you are looking for a psychiatric provider who is deeply experienced, highly observant, and ready to get straight to work on your holistic care, I am ready to help you take that next step.

My approach to therapy

I bring a calm, direct, and highly attentive style to psychiatric care. With more than a decade of hands-on experience in the medical field, I am not easily overwhelmed. My background involves managing acute conditions, performing patient triage, and coordinating emergency medical responses in high-pressure environments. Because of this, I provide a space that is incredibly stable, supportive, and safe. I am a great fit for patients who appreciate thoroughness, honest communication, and practical medical guidance.

What you can expect from me

You can expect a thorough, straightforward, and highly comprehensive evaluation. Because my background is rooted in over a decade of hands-on medical and emergency care, I don't just look at an isolated symptom; I look at your complete medical picture. During our first session, we will complete a full psychiatric evaluation and discuss your mental health diagnostics. You can expect me to take a careful medical history so we can get right to work on building an individualized treatment plan that makes sense for you across your lifespan. Above all, you can expect a calm, caring environment where we address your needs efficiently and effectively.
