Great to meet you!

My name is Judy Jepsen, I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Kentucky and a Licensed Clinicial Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. I’m also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I specialize in treating clients 18+ experiencing issues with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, grief and loss, relationship issues, work- and school-related stress, pre- and post-divorce, those in recovery from substance use disorders, trauma, and various adjustment issues. I have special interest and training in treating survivors of narcissistic abuse. (Fun Fact: Prior to entering the counseling field I was an elementary school teacher in NYC.)

My approach to therapy

My approach to counseling draws from Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Solution-focused (SF), and Narrative (NT) therapies. I also provide Christian counseling and, if desired, can provide an integrated approach to therapy that utilizes Scripture along with evidence-based techniques and interventions from CBT, SF, NT. I'm also an EMDR-trained therapist.

I take a non-judgmental, person-centered approach to therapy where client and therapist are in a collaborative relationship. My goal is to understand what brings you to therapy, help identify/clarify issues and goals, and help you make the changes you want to make.

What you can expect from me

Clients leave sessions with a better understanding of their issues and themselves. I do a lot of psychoeducation in my sessions so clients can expect to understand some of the "why" they do the things they do and will walk away with practical tools and strategies to use in real life situations. My goal is to add tools to your Toolbox.
