Laura Paton

Hello! My name is Laura Paton and I am a Mental Health Counselor that specializes in using EMDR to treat complex PTSD/trauma in children and adults. I transitioned into private practice after working in community mental health and crisis work which allowed me a unique understanding of how trauma can affect us in our every day lives.

My treatment approach is to examine negative core beliefs from adverse childhood and guide you through EMDR to process these negative beliefs/traumas. I also prioritize creating a safe environment to process trauma which involves using polyvagal theory to support the dysregulated nervous system.

Clients often report relief of nightmares and PTSD symptoms and the realization that the past no longer controls their lives and they are free to focus on their goals and dreams without self sabotaging behaviors getting in the way.
