Great to meet you!

I'm Dr. Pascual Chen, a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Clarity Psychological Services in Wexford, PA. For over a decade, I've had the privilege of walking with individuals, couples, and families through life's hardest seasons — anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship struggles, and the search for meaning and direction.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wheaton College in Illinois, and my Master of Science and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) from Hofstra University in New York. I'm also a certified trauma therapist and a certified school psychologist in Pennsylvania.

My approach is integrative and evidence-based. I draw from, but not limited to, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), emotionally-focused therapy (EFT), solution-focused therapy, and the Gottman Method for couples — always tailored to the person in front of me. For clients who want it, I also offer faith-integrated Christian counseling, weaving prayer, Scripture, and a Christian understanding of healing alongside proven clinical care. It's always available, never imposed.

More than anything, I believe healing begins with feeling understood. My goal is to bring you hope, insight, and practical steps toward the life you were created to live.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely safe, understood, and respected — so that's where I begin. My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I won't just listen quietly; together we'll identify what's really going on, make sense of it, and build practical tools you can use in your everyday life.

My work is integrative and evidence-based, which means I tailor the approach to you rather than forcing you into a single method. I draw on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to shift unhelpful patterns of thinking, emotionally-focused therapy (EFT) to deepen connection, and the Gottman Method to help couples rebuild trust and communication. As a certified trauma therapist and EMDR therapist, I help clients process painful experiences at a pace that always feels safe.

I also hold to a simple principle: truth supersedes facts. The facts of your past may be real, but they don't have to define who you are or where you're headed.

For clients who want it, I integrate Christian faith — prayer, Scripture, and a Christian understanding of healing — always at your invitation and never imposed. Whether you come for individual, couples, or family therapy, my goal is the same: real insight, real change, and a life that feels worth living.

What you can expect from me

Walking into a first session can feel intimidating — and that's completely normal. My first goal is simply to help you feel at ease. There's no pressure to share everything at once or to have it all figured out before you arrive.

Our first session is really a conversation. I want to understand your story: what brought you in, what you've been carrying, and what you hope will be different. You set the pace — we go only where you're comfortable going.

By the end, we'll begin to name what you'd like to work toward and sketch out a path for getting there, so you leave with a sense of direction rather than just unanswered questions. If faith is something you'd like woven into your care, the first session is a good time to mention it — and if it's not, that's fully honored too.

Most of all, I want you to walk out feeling genuinely heard, respected, and hopeful that change is possible. That sense of being understood is where real healing begins.
