Great to meet you!

Greetings! My name is Dr Peter B Sorman. I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Board Certified Neuropsychologist. I welcome you to my psychotherapy practice where we partner to establish goals and treatment. I specialize in trauma (military and non-military), adjusting through challenging times, PTSD, and anxiety/depression.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is "eclectic", using treatment modalities that are evidence based (e.g., EMDR, CBT). I also offer traditional psychoanalytic therapy to help understand the source(s) of mental health challenges. We then focus on coping strategies and optimize a plan for behavioral change. You are the captain of your ship; I am here to guide and help you reach your potential. I am direct, empathic, and use humor at times during our sessions. Therapy is an "alliance"; the relationship is built on a foundation of trust and mutual respect.

What you can expect from me

Our first meeting is fairly structured. We review your history, what issues bring you to therapy, and develop your goals to optimize the experience. We then establish a therapy schedule that is mutually agrreable.
