Amy Bingham

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Utah, with over 10 years of experience in counseling. Prior to my counseling career change, I worked in education as a professor of mathematics education, helping elementary teachers improve their mathematics teaching skills. While I will always cherish my roots in education, I’ve found my true passion in counseling. Supporting others through their healing and growth is the most meaningful work I’ve ever done. I have worked with clients from all ages, backgrounds, and areas of concern- substance abuse and addiction, trauma/abuse, depression, anxiety, LGBTQ issues, relationship concerns, career concerns, family relationship issues, and more.

My counseling style is very client-centered; my priority is to meet clients where they are and use a collaborative approach to treatment planning, goal setting, and choosing counseling modalities that work best for the client. My most often used modalities include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Motivational Interviewing (MI); Solution-Focused Therapy; and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); among others.

I focus on identifying clients' strengths while also identifying the areas of their lives they are hoping to improve, and then collaborate with clients to utilize the treatment modality that will best intertwine those strengths with their goals.It takes great courage and humility to reach out to a counselor for help, and I am continually inspired to work with clients as they move toward their "best lives."
