Great to meet you!

My trauma and its symptoms caused untolled heartache in my life and the lives of my loved ones. Healing it became my personal obsession in 2001 when I started going to therapy. I enjoyed therapy so much I decided to go pro! Trauma and PTSD became my sole professional focus in 2006 and I’ve remained on that path since. I received a Master’s in Counseling from the Adler Graduate School in 2006. I trained at one of the top trauma treatment centers in the world until 2008, when I became a faculty member at Grand Canyon University. From 2011 to 2016 I directed a program that lead the field in terms of innovative treatment of anxiety and trauma. During that time I made several appearances on A&E’s intervention.

My approach to therapy

I’ve completed training in Somatic Experiencing (SE) and am an approved SE training assistant. I’ve also completed coursework for the Neuro-Affective Relational Module, a systematic approach to healing developmental trauma. Those trainings represent four-and-a-half years of post-graduate study in trauma resolution.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a welcoming, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel safe to share their story at their own pace. The first session is primarily about getting to know you—understanding what brings you to therapy, your current challenges, and the goals you hope to achieve. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to gain a clear picture of your experiences, while also giving you space to ask any questions about the therapeutic process.

Because my work is trauma-informed, we move at a pace that prioritizes safety and nervous system regulation. Rather than diving too quickly into painful memories, the initial session focuses on building trust, establishing a sense of stability, and identifying resources that support resilience. Clients often leave with a clearer understanding of how trauma may be influencing their thoughts, emotions, and relationships.

We’ll also discuss how we might work together moving forward, including potential treatment approaches such as Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM)-informed therapy. By the end of the session, you can expect to feel heard, understood, and hopeful about the path ahead.
