Jessica Barks

I am a licensed professional therapist who founded Expressive Roots Counseling to support adolescents and young adults dealing with eating disorders/disordered eating, self-esteem issues, life-transitions, neurodiversity, anxiety disorders, and trauma. I will also work closely with families to support individual work when needed.

I have worked for 8 years in community empowerment programs, non-profits, schools, residential and partial hospitalization, as well as my own private practice.

As a Master-Level Expressive Arts Therapist I work intentionally with the mind-body connection to establish trust and safety and connect to the root of our creative wisdom within to increase self-discovery, ease symptoms, process emotions, and build better relationships with yourself and others. I'm also trained in:

My desire as an art therapist is to collaborate with you and provide unconditional support throughout your journey of self-exploration and healing. I approach therapy from a strengths-based, client-centered, experiential lens, empowering my clients to discover their own insights around their therapeutic process. Art therapy provides a contained way to connect to the body, establish safety, and eventually get to the root of unconscious psychological turmoil.
