Great to meet you!

I have a PhD in humanistic, existential, and transpersonal psychology and a M.S. in clinical mental health counseling. I am certified in EMDR and Progressive Counting and I am an EMDR consultant. I am also a certified integrative mental health professional and yoga teacher. Most importantly, I became a good trauma therapist (and researcher/consultant) by healing from my trauma experiences and turning it into a gift. My gift is being able to see you with a compassionate heart beyond your trauma, symptoms, and defensives. And to help lift you from those things that interfere with your capacity to access joy and beauty. I am a therapist, but I see myself more as a coach who can guide you towards healing, growth, and greater potential. I am also an Army veteran and transcendental meditation practitioner with really cool life experience that shaped me for the better.

My approach to therapy

I have a relational approach. I want to get to know you and support you on your journey. I will always show up authentically and hopefully you can find comfort in that and find more ease in showing up as your true self.

I am a creative problem solver and will work with you to get to the root of your problems and symptoms. I will help you to heal from root causes rather than you just 'getting by' with symptom management. It might not always be a linear process, but I assure you - I will give it my all.

What you can expect from me

Insurance will cover our work together for one hour at a time. If it seems warranted, you can elect to do intensive trauma therapy (3+ hours at a time for up to five consecutive days at a time) at a discounted private pay rate. At the beginning of each session I will guide you through a visualization (or related technique) that will help you to feel more grounded, safe, and protected. This is also how I will end the session too, in addition to obtaining feedback from you about the session so that I can continue to adjust and refine the work with you. Sessions early on are designed to get you ready for trauma processing. When you are ready, we will focus on trauma processing for a while. Then you will want to take breaks every now and then to experiment with life and begin to discover who you are beyond the trauma - including identity, values, purpose, and goals. We can continue to work together for as long as you are getting benefit and want to.
