Great to meet you!

I truly enjoy helping people to overcome disruptive and difficult emotions and reactions. I received my PhD from Duke University and was fortunate enough to train post-doctorally with Dr. Albert Ellis, the father of cognitive therapy, who taught me to approach all problems with optimism and kindness. I have been practicing for over 40 years and have the pleasure of seeing many clients discover their own power over their emotional state.

My approach to therapy

I help clients uncover their own thinking and automatic responses that contribute to their emotional distress. We cannot change the past, but we can change how we view the past. Things happen and we can learn to cope differently in order to help ourselves feel better and live happier lives.

What you can expect from me

First, I would like to hear about disruptive or painful emotions and behaviors that my client is experiencing. Then I like to fully hear my client's views and thoughts concerning any negative things that they think might be the cause of these difficult reactions. After we both feel that a clear picture has emerged, then I like to discuss our own role in those negative reactions.
