Great to meet you!

Steven Scifres is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. He completed his Master of Arts degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling/Therapy at UNC in May of 2019. Steve also became trained in EMDR in early 2021, and he's experienced practicing this with children, teens, and adults.

My approach to therapy

Steve strives to provide a collaborative environment where people are free to be themselves. He primarily works with people from an emotionally focused orientation. Life is fast paced, and Steve wants to provide an atmosphere where clients can “slow-down,” and better understand what is happening for them in their lives. Throughout much of his work, Steve integrates an attachment-based perspective. He strives to develop an empathetic relationship, and he draws upon his personal experience as a small business owner, working in the trades, serving in faith-based organizations, and participating in professional athletics.

What you can expect from me

Steve desire is to help people develop new “pathways” in their lives, and to recover “lost territory.” Most clients experience a greater sense of self-awareness, and have opportunity to develop skills to better themselves and their relationships. Steve likes to support people in their spiritual journey, working with all beliefs and practices. He can integrate Christian Counseling upon the request of the client.
