Hello! My name is Ty Martin and I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri since 2010. In addition to Missouri, I am also licensed in the states of Washington, Iowa, and Nevada. I aspire to get licensed in other states so I can provide services to those in need.
My theoretical orientation is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT) as there are a variety of interventions to choose from that are evidenced based. I specialize in Trauma Informed CBT, e.g. TF CBT for children 3-18 and Cognitive Processing Therapy for ages 14-Adulthood. However, I have had the opportunity to serve people with use of Strength Based Approaches, Non directive therapy, e.g. Client Centered Approaches and Directive therapy approaches, Skills Building and Structured Problem Solving, amongst many other interventions.
In my tenure as a therapist, I have served across many facets including Virtual, In Home, Inpatient, Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient, In School, and other Community based settings. I also have treated across diverse cultures including but not limited to age, ethnicities, gender, disabilities, socioeconomic status, etc.
I am a Clinical Psychologist licensed in both Delaware and Iowa. I earned my doctorate (Psy.D., Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology) from the Fuller School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary in California.
I have over 10 years of clinical experience working with diverse populations in the East Coast, the Midwest, and the Los Angeles area in a variety of settings, such as outpatient behavioral agencies, community mental health clinics, a psychiatric hospital focusing on chemical dependency, a university counseling center, and a school district. I also received a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Hong Kong.
I provide psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families dealing with a wide variety of concerns. My clinical interests include anxiety and mood disorders, trauma recovery, grief and loss, family of origin issues, ADHD, relational distress, substance use disorders, eating concerns, perfectionism, cross-cultural adjustments, and spirituality. I was trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 2021 and my specialty area is to help individuals with complex childhood traumas and PTSD using attachment-informed EMDR interventions.
