I’m a board-certified psychiatrist who values thoughtful, collaborative care. I was trained in both medicine and public health, which shapes how I think about mental health in the context of a person’s life, relationships, work, culture, and stressors. I work with adults across a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, ADHD, and life transitions. My goal is to create a space where clients feel heard, respected, and not rushed.
As a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I partner with children, teens, and families to provide comprehensive, compassionate mental health care. My practice specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of ADHD, anxiety, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), depression, and OCD. I believe in looking at the whole child, blending evidence-based medical management with therapeutic support to help your child thrive at home, in school, and in life.
What uniquely informs my psychiatric practice is my foundational background in pediatric neurology. This specialized experience allows me to deeply understand the complex intersection between brain development, neurological functioning, and behavioral health. When treating conditions like ADHD or OCD, I look beyond surface-level symptoms to understand the underlying neurological drivers, allowing me to create highly precise, targeted treatment plans that standard approaches might miss.
I’m Linda Orji, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over Eleven years of experience in health care. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for individuals with both medical and psychiatric conditions, which deepened my understanding of the powerful connection between the mind, body, and overall well-being.
As your mental health provider here's what I want you to know about me:
I am a double board-certified family and psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner. As a Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I believe that healing begins with understanding. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can share your story without judgment and work toward meaningful, lasting change. I provide individualized, evidence-based care for adults facing depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorders, ADHD/ADD, and sleep disorders.
I do not perform disability work.
I’ve been in practice for over 13 years since completing my postgraduate training at Harvard and University of California affiliated programs. I am board certified in adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry.
I’m open minded, non judgemental, and most of all, want to help. My private practice is just getting started, so I am scheduling patients on an immediate basis.

Headway makes it easy to find support for your mental health — from finding the right provider, to understanding costs, to scheduling with ease.
Finding psychiatrists in Elmira starts with knowing which type of mental health care fits your needs. Psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners can diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication, while therapists provide talk therapy. Medication management may be part of care for concerns like anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or OCD. Both therapy and psychiatry can be valid starting points, depending on what you want help with and whether you are looking for talk therapy, medication support, or both.
Elmira is a smaller market, so local psychiatry options may be more limited than in larger New York cities. Virtual appointments can expand your options while still giving you access to licensed psychiatrists in New York. Psychiatric medication management visits are often shorter and less frequent than therapy sessions, though some psychiatrists also offer therapy. As you compare options, look at appointment availability, whether the psychiatrist is accepting new patients, and what their bio says about communication style, specialties, and session structure.
Psychiatry in Elmira can be a significant expense without insurance. Using in-network insurance is one of the most reliable ways to reduce session costs and understand your expected out-of-pocket cost before care begins. Headway helps you search for psychiatrists who take your plan, verify your insurance, and see estimated costs before booking. You can review bios, compare virtual and in-person options, and book directly when you are ready.
If you're already taking psychiatric medication and considering switching providers, talk to your current prescriber before changing or stopping any medication — most psychiatric medications shouldn't be stopped abruptly. Anyone experiencing thoughts of self-harm or in acute crisis should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department rather than wait for an outpatient appointment.
